Established in 1870, the mission of the American Fisheries Society is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries and aquatic science and promoting the development of fisheries professionals.

Founded in 1933, to represent the interests of fishing tackle manufacturers, the ASA has evolved to champion the entire sportfishing community. Through advocacy, outreach and special programs and events, ASA, and its conservation and habitat restoration arm, the FishAmerica Foundation, safeguards and promotes the economic and conservation values of sportfishing, keeping the nation’s fisheries and waterways healthy and accessible to America’s most popular outdoor activity.

B.A.S.S., was founded in 1968 by Ray Scott of Montgomery, Alabama, with three simple objectives: to create a credible and honorable bass fishing tournament trail, to improve our environment by uniting and amplifying the voices of anglers, and to secure a future for our youth.
