An early version of MoveOn was begun in 1998 in California, but in 2001, Eli Pariser of Maine began another organization aimed at promoting restraint in our response to 9/11. Pariser later joined forces with the California group. Today MoveOn has more than 3 million members who receive updates by email about events and issues in the current political climate.

Roll Call was founded in 1955 with the mission of providing news coverage of the people, politics, and process of Congress. Rollcall.com is the online version. On it, users can find breaking news, the agendas of both houses and their committees, information about bills, "vested interests," transcripts, lobbying reports, the Budget, opinion columns, and much more.

The Nation, headquartered in New York City, was founded in 1865 to publish articles and information about politics and social issues from a non-partisan point of view. There are 47 issues per year. This is the website of the online version, which contains the articles in the current issue plus other articles and news of interest. With a paper subscription, users can access online archives.

TPM was founded in November 2000 during the Florida recount and is headquartered in New York City. It is the flagship blog of TPM Media LLC, which also publishes TPM Muckraker, TPM Election Central, and TPM Cafe, all of which are accessible on the Talking Points Memo website. Also on the site are up-to-date news, wire headlines, links to other sites that are TPM approved, and articles and letters.
